Image Downloader — Privacy Policy

What this policy covers

This policy applies to the Image Downloader browser extension for Google Chrome ("the extension"). It explains what the extension can access, what it does with it, and what it never does.

Information we collect

None. The extension does not collect or receive any personally identifiable information, health information, financial information, authentication information, personal communications, location, web history, or user activity. No data is sent to the developer or to any third party, because the extension has no server and makes no network requests to any service of its own.

What the extension can access, and why

To find images, the extension has to look at the page you are viewing. That happens only while you are actively using it:

• The page you invoke it on. When you click the extension's toolbar icon, Chrome grants temporary access to that tab. The extension reads the page to list the images on it. This access ends when you navigate away or close the tab.
• All sites (optional, off by default). The side panel offers a one-time "Scan every page automatically" button. If you accept, the extension can read pages as you browse so the panel stays useful across tabs and navigations. This is optional, is never requested automatically, and the extension works without it. You can withdraw it at any time by right-clicking the extension icon and choosing "This can read and change site data".
• Image data. When you convert an image to another format, package images into a ZIP, or when the extension checks an image's true file type so it can be saved with the correct extension, it reads the image's bytes. This happens entirely in your browser using your browser's own image support. Image data is never uploaded anywhere.

Page content, page addresses, image addresses and image contents are used only to display results to you in the side panel and to save files you choose. None of it is recorded, stored beyond the current browsing session, or transmitted.

Information stored on your device

The extension uses Chrome's storage permission to remember your own preferences: minimum image size, grouping and filter settings, sort order, output format and quality, filename style, and default download folder. These are settings you choose, not data about you. They are stored by Chrome on your device and may sync between your own Chrome profiles if you have Chrome sync enabled. They are never sent to the developer.

Downloads

Files you choose to download are saved by Chrome to your own computer, in your normal downloads location. The extension does not keep a record of what you downloaded.

Third parties

There are none. The extension contains no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting, no remote code and no third-party libraries loaded at runtime. Every file it runs is contained in the extension package itself.

Data sharing and sale

No data is collected, so nothing is sold, transferred or shared. Specifically, the extension does not sell data to third parties, does not use or transfer data for any purpose unrelated to its single purpose, and does not use or transfer data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes.

Children

The extension is a general-purpose utility, is not directed at children, and collects no information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised "last updated" date. Material changes to what the extension accesses would also be reflected in the extension's Chrome Web Store listing.
